What to do after Overseed
What To Do After We Come:
- To enhance the benefits of the overseed and to make the most of the service it is best to start watering as soon as possible.
Keeping the seed moist until it germinates is the best thing you can do for the new seed,(just moist, not standing water) This can be done by a manual sprinkler for about 10-15mins every day, depending on the area, possibly twice a day.. The seed will start to germinate in about 10-14 days. The seed we use is very good for this area and will germinate in about 7-10 if it is kept moist (the soil is muddy). If you have a sprinkler system: Watering 4-5 days a week, again just enough to keep the ground moist.
Bare areas with seed will dry out fast and may need more manual watering, even if you have a sprinkler system. Just keep on eye on it and use the watering as a nice therapeutic time to relax (and you get the benefit of green grass. :)
Once the seed has germinated you can cut back and water 3-4 times a week through the fall months (end of November, maybe sooner), about an inch a week of water. With the cooler months ahead of us the seed will thrive before the winter time. Adequate water for the seed in the beginning will set it off on the right foot.
